My brother did the 10k, Max and I did the 5k, and the kids did the 1k.
Stretching before the race. :)
I can't believe my mom got this picture of us running it in at the end of the race. Max and I were neck and neck the whole way. I beat him by only 4 seconds.
Resting after the race.
Graham, America's Largest Downtown.
Time for the kids' 1k race. I helped Rhett run it in, but he really got into and ran most of the way.
Kellyn did not finish. She got scared with so many kids crowded around her and few of them fell in front of her. She told me she didn't like to run with so many people she didn't know. But my dad was with her. I think she did get scared, but also frustrated that she wasn't going do as well as she had imagined in her mind. I wish I had known what was going on behind us so I could have traded and let my dad and Max run in with Rhett and I go back with Kellyn to make her finish the race. She has such a fear of failure and of getting hurt. I'm sad to say she gets it from her momma. I would rather not try than cost the game for my team or have everyone know that I wasn't good at something. So sad. I hate that I was like that as a child and I really hate to see it in my daughter.
My brother, Jacob, got 2nd overall in the 10k! Last year he won it and gave the prize money back, but his year there some new guy who was like 4 minutes faster.
This in the Graham movie theater.
After the race we went back to the hotel and showered and changed and were going to go to lunch at the Wild Cater, but they no longer serve lunch. So we finally found a little Italian place that was open and next door to that was a Root Beer Float shop. A great way to end the morning.
