Back the Blue - Remember July 7

Before I blog about the annual Peach Festival I must say a few words about what happened the 2 nights before. On July 7, five Dallas police officers were targeted and gunned down by a snipper during a Black Lives matter parade. It has been reported that they were running towards the gun fire to protect the very people that were protesting cops. Such brave men and women. Such unsung heroes.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown was worn out hours after the shooting. He said he was running fumes, but was still able to give a great speech. He said, “Become a part of the solution, serve your community. Don’t be a part of the problem…we’re hiring. Get off that protest line and put an application in. We’ll put you in your neighborhood – we will help you resolve some of the problems you are protesting about.”
How could something like this happen? How could God allow it to happen? Well I'm happy to report that in the midst of this tragedy people immediately turned to prayer and was beautiful thing.
God is here y'all. He is in Dallas. The entire city and surrounding suburbs and neighboring states and the rest of the country is PRAYING. Praying to God and crying out to Jesus. Not blaming Him. He hears our prayers and His heart breaks with ours. God created all those lives and had plans for each one of them, but evil moved in and destroyed what God intended for good. But God is bigger and He moves mountains and changes hearts and that is what our entire country prayed for today. May the peace that transcends ALL understanding be felt by the moms, dads, siblings, spouses, and children of those 5 valiant men who died protecting us and all officers and their families who continue to protect us. We cry out to you oh God, soothe our weary souls.
I believe Dallas Police Chief David Brown summed it up beautifully in his very emotionally speech at the memorial for the fallen officers. What a magnificent leader and man of faith. Oh how I wish he was our presidential nominee. So sad and heartbroken he retired only less than months after the incident on September 1. :(
