Christmas Eve at my parent's house

Every year on Christmas Eve we go to my parent's house to open tons of presents. My mom just cannot control herself when it comes buying presents. She always gives the kids too much and me too much and Max too much. We really, really appreciate all of it, but it is a bit overwhelming with the ripping and tearing and paper flying. I can't keep track of who gave the kids what. It all just happens so fast. All this after my parenting e-newsletter was about the benefits of having a modest Christmas and how to reduce entitlement in today's generations. Ughhh.

Maw-maw gave Rhett Car slippers
so he put them around his neck :)

Aunt Pat gave Kellyn princess slippers.
She opened them up and said,
"Just what I always wanted."

Kellyn loves her new Sleeping Beauty
doll that my Aunt Pat gave her.

My mom gave Rhett a Reveille hat.
He wanted to wear it immediately.

Kellyn pretended to fall asleep on
the way home with her new doll.
One last ride before we head home.

Young children just make the holidays more fun. We are truly blessed. And after so many of my close friends have lost a parent over the past year I am especially grateful that both of my parents are still living and well. Who cares if they spoil their only grandchildren. I'm just grateful my kids are able to get to know their grandparents and make special memories with them.
