Christmas giving

We were holding spoons as a joke because the book we
studied was very pro spanking. Not all of us spank so our
leaders gave them to us to be funny.
Every Tuesday morning while Kellyn is in preschool, Rhett and I first go to Kindermusik then straight to a Bible study with some other mom friends I know from Kellyn's playgroup. We were going through the book Shepherding a Child's Heart. When we finished the book we had a Christmas party. Then the same evening we took our kids to volunteer at Metrocrest. This was Kellyn's first service project and she loved it. She really enjoyed working with her friends. We stuffed stocking bags. The kids split up, girls on one side and boys on the other side of the table. They formed assembly lines putting 1 toy, 1 bag of candy, and 1 pair of gloves in the a plastic bag. Surprisingly she never tried to keep any of the toys or candy. Afterwards we all went out to eat together at CC's pizza. What a fun night. I am definitely going make this a family tradition.

Another thing we do each year on December 1st is go through all our toys and get rid of enough to fill a big plastic tub full. Then we take that big bin to CCA and donate our old toys to kids that don't have toys for Christmas. That has turned into a fun game and Kellyn does a really great job and letting go of stuff she hasn't played with in a long time or has outgrown. Plus, it gets the house organized and makes room for the new toys they will get for Christmas.

When I was teaching 2nd grade I used to read the book The Gingerbread Man then bake gingerbread cookies using the recipe on the back of the book. Now I do it with my own kids. And we give them to friends as Christmas gifts.
I told Kellyn to change out of her nice church clothes and into
something she could cook in. She chose this poofy skirt.
