Awfully Hot August Extras

This month was so ridiculously HOT. Temperatures were about 106 degrees every day so we did not do much outside. I think we ended up setting some records for longest number of 100 plus temperatures. It was close to the summer of 1980 when they had 69 straight days of 100 plus temps. I think we had 68 days plus a drought. And every time I turn on the news there is another wild fire somewhere in Texas, usually in Possum Kingdom.
Just to show you hot it was:
We accidentally left our box of crayons in the backseat of the car and when we opened it up they had all melted and were running out the sides onto the leather seats. So we decided to do an experiment. We  set crayons on top of rocks one morning then came back to look at them that night and they had all melted onto the rocks. I should have taken before pictures of our naked crayons resting on top of the rocks, but I forgot. Regardless, you can see how the white and yellow just melted flat down.

Also this month Kellyn went to a super fun Wedding Themed 5th birthday party for her friend Caroline. All the little girls came dressed as "bridesmaids." They got to walk down the aisle to wedding music holding flowers and have wedding cupcakes at the reception table. She could not stop talking about it when she got home. She dressed Miss Lily up like a bridesmaid because she felt like she wanted to be pretty too.

Rhett made peach pie with my mom.

Wild boy wearing a baby hat.

Kellyn made a marker holder.

We made ice cream in a bag!

We had breakfast (waffles, bacon and eggs) for dinner then watched a movie. Kellyn felt that everyone needed to be shaded with her umbrella in order to cool off.

Kellyn went to her friend, Presley's 4th birthday party at Kreative Kids. Same place Kellyn had her 4th brirthday, princess party. So fun!

Indoor Safari - Rhett has really enjoyed the train table there, but cried in terror of the mechanical animals. The both loved the ball pit, but they moved so fast in and out of it that I couldn't get a picture.

My little man hard at work and grocery shopping. :)

Our last playgroup at Lucus's house. His mom Sarah has been our playgroup coordinator since we joined when Kellyn was only 8 months old, but now that Lucus is going to preschool on Mondays they can no longer attend. But now she is coordinating a Friday afternoon playgroup that is unaffiliated with the CECPTA just so we can all still stay together!

I think Kellyn might want a fish for her birthday. She took all her fish finger puppets and put them in her  Discovery Toys Measuring cups with soap and water.

Rhett loves, loves, loves watching our neighbor, Eli, mow the lawn.
