I read a post on the blog I Can Teach My Child about a challenge to spend 15 minutes outside everyday based on the book 15 Minutes Outside by Rebecca P. Cohen. I then wrote this months parenting e-newsletter about the same challenge. Please let me know if you would like to my e-newsletter.
This first week of January was a great week to start because it was beautiful Spring weather all week. :) Here in Texas in January it looks like Fall, feels like Spring, but it's really Winter. This won't be too difficult of a challenge for us. I have ordered the book and it will be nice to get some new ideas of things to do outside. I have always made sure my kids get outside everyday anyways even when we had 5 days of freezing temperatures and ice last February. We still got outside and part of that is due to having a dog who needs regular walks too. I mean when you have 2 young children and a dog you have no choice, but to get outside.
We played in a pile of leaves in the backyard.
Vest day :)
We actually just went to the library for story time then took Miss Lily took the park with us that afternoon.
Kellyn took her baby Aurora for a walk.
Made and painted with sidewalk chalk paint in the front.
Went to the park with friends.
Ok, this one was kind of different. Max is a home health physical therapist and one of his patients is neighbors with this guy who has all these birds including peacocks at his house so he took us over there to see them and feed the fish and turtles in the creek behind it.
Peacocks are cool and they sound like geese honking.
Super fun start to the year!
Next week is supposed to bring rain so I will keep you posted on how well we do getting outside, but I think we will do fine. My kids love to play in the rain. The dog does not, however.
And I saw this cute house in the peacock neighborhood. Sure would love to find a house like this with a big yard.
