Each year our Life Group has our annual Christmas party on New Year's Eve because we are all so busy before Christmas. :) We had dinner, drinks, and dessert at the Engman's house.
We have a gift exchange, but you can't spend any money. You have to find something from around your house and wrap it up and give as if it were a great gift. It is always funny to see what people bring and what gets stolen.
After the gift exchange was over we presented our leaders with a Christmas gift from the entire group. They were pretty shocked and surprised. I feel so bad that we haven't given them an annual Christmas gift. I'm embarrassed to say that this is the first year we've given them something. But I saw this deal on kgbdeals back in July and had to get it. We emailed with the rest of the group about some other service type projects we could do for them. I printed them up to look like Gift Certificates as part of the gift.
After we left the party we didn't have any other plans and the kids were at my parent's house for the night so we just rented a movie and stayed up until midnight then went to sleep. Pretty boring, I know, but we were tired. And we got to sleep in on New's Years Day until 9:00! But then we took all the outdoor lights and decorations down, boxed them up and took them and our giant tree to my parent's storage shed at their veterinary clinic in Flower Mound then went to pick up the kids and have lunch with my family. We put our Christmas stuff their storage shed because we will be putting our house on the market in May and I didn't want to put all that back in the attic only to move it again in a few months. We basically have 5 months to de-clutter our house, put a ton of stuff in storage, and make it look like we don't live here.
Here is Max with Rosie on New Year's Day as we went to pick up the kids at my parents house.
