Saturday was the recital! We had to be at the high school auditorium at 4:00 in the afternoon and the show started at 5:00.
After going to 2 birthday parties that morning and staying up late the night before the kids were worn out. I felt so sad to have to wake her up from a rare nap.
Right before she went on stage for the first time in her first recital!
Boo hoo hoo, my baby is growing up. I just can't wrap my brain around the fact that she is about to start Kindergarten in a few months and looking so grown up. And of course I cried when I saw her on stage.
Since I was the Stage Mom I got to take them to the stage door. Here is the last shot of them getting their sillies out right before going on stage for the first time.
Between Act 1 and 2 the little girls got a First Year of Dance trophy. Kellyn could not have been more excited about this! I felt like Rhett and my brother, Jacob, were like the 2 younger brothers enduring a long dance recital. My mom just kept giving them both snacks kept them entertained with her phone. :)
The recital moved along faster than the rehearsal. After the 3 to 5 year olds were done with their Act 2 performance they were allowed to leave. Next year she will be in the Kindergarten dance class and will be required to stay the entire time. :(
We went out to dinner at Five Guys with my parents, Maw-maw, and Uncle Jacob after the show. All she wanted was a grilled cheese sandwich.
I know more what to expect next year. I can't believe she wants to take dance again next year. She hated me putting rollers in her hair every time, but loved wearing make-up.
