My 5th First Day

We got our Welcome Letter on Saturday!
It was from my friend and Kellyn's teacher, Karen Vaughn. I taught 1st grade with Karen my first year of teaching at a Tittle 1 public school. She recently retired then took a job teaching 1/2 Day Kindergarten at Lakeland Christian. What are the chances! What a blessing and sign that we have made the right choice.

Kellyn starts Kindergarten this Friday so here are the books we will be reading this week. "The Night Before Kindergarten," holds a special place in my heart because when I was a school counselor I used to read it to the new Kinder parents at orientation and now I'm reading it for myself.

I didn't think I would cry about it because while she is going every day it is only 1/2 day, 8:45 to 1:00, but then yesterday we were outside talking to our neighbors about how they just got back from moving their son in at college. Later, Kellyn told me that when she goes to college she will call me a lot and text me all the time and not live very far away. :) Then it hit me! Kindergarten is the beginning of the end! Kindergarten is the start of getting ready for college. :(   I quit my job to stay home with her and now she is going to leave me. I've been a stay-at-home mom now for 4 years. Today marks my 5th First Day of School to not be working and while I miss it I don't regret it. Things have changed so much since The First Day of School last year. So blessed I haven't missed a moment of her early childhood years because in the blink of an eye they are now over.
