Kellyn Started Kindergarten

The day before school started was Open House/ Meet the Teacher.
Kellyn made her a cute letter.

The exciting thing about Kellyn's Kindergarten teacher is that I used to teach with her! I taught 1st grade with her my first year of teaching! Then when I was a school counselor I got to do lessons in her classroom! We chose Lakeland Christian Academy back in December. Karen didn't decide to come out of her year long retirement and go back to teaching until June. It was just a wonderful blessing and sign that we are in right place at the right time.

After Open House we went out to lunch at Kellyn's favorite place, Red Robin, and got her a special "Day Before School Starts" treat.

When Max got home that night I took her for a Mommy/Daughter pedicure and she got a manicure as well. She picked 2 colors and added flowers. They turned out so cute!

The morning of the 1st Day of School!

Last year we started putting them in our clothes on the first day of school. One of these "First Days" they will fit in them!

School started on a Friday which is Spirit Day. This means they get to wear their Spirit shirt with jeans. Kellyn was not about to wear jeans so she just wore her uniform skirt with it.

Excited to give her teacher her gift.
I talked her into letting me put her hair in pigtails. I just think it's is the cutest way to do her hair so that she still looks sweet and young. :)
We gave her a Keepsake Portfolio
School starts at 8:45.

Lots of photo op stops before we even get in the building.

Her and Kylie, friends since birth and now they get to be in Kindergarten together. Yet another "What are the chances?!" kind of moment.
A walk down memory lane:

At her table

She blinged out her box herself. We found this zebra print duct tape with green glitter on it and she just had to have it. I printed her name and taped it on there then she added the stars. :)  The only thing I don't like is that there is a boy named Triston sitting next to her at her table.

I didn't even cry until Rhett and I went to Kroger and saw a baby girl in a shopping cart laughing with her mom. I broke down in the checkout line. Very embarrassing as strangers asked if I was ok. Kellyn on the other hand did great. We (just Rhett and I) had to go back up to school at 11:30 for Kindergarten Orientation in the classroom. When it was over at noon had the option to take them home with us early, but my child was so excited about eating lunch in the cafeteria that she told me I could leave and pick her up at the normal time (1:00). So Rhett and I went to my grandmother's house which is close to her school and ate lunch then went right back to pick her up. When she got in the car she said, "Kindergarten Rocks!"
