Landry's 1st Birthday Party

My kids showed up to the birthday party like this:
Rain boots, sunglasses and tiara. What is wrong with them?

Parent Coaching Side Note:
My theory is that since I had to wear uniforms growing up I feel that this is there only chance to dress in a way that lets their personality shine through. I believe it is important to a child's self-confidence to be allowed to choose their own clothes in the early years. It lets them know that Mommy views them as capable individuals who can make good and creative choices on their own. Besides I would rather pick another more important battle than clothes, something like lying or not following directions or being impolite. You know character traits and social skills. Plus I think your wardrobe choices can help shape your character. When Kellyn was was 3 she wanted to wear her pink poofy princess gown all the time, even in the winter. So I told her she could as long as she was willing and able to put on a long sleeve turtle neck and tights under it. She did so off we went. And Rhett just loves to wear sunglasses and rain boots all the time. I know his feet are hot in them being 96 degrees outside and all. I just  figure it is their turn to embarrass me now, but it is my turn to embarrass them later. :)  But honestly it doesn't really embarrass me. I secretly like the attention and the kids do too. Plus it gives them good opportunities to practice their social skills when strange talk to them about what they are wearing.

Anyways, Landry's mommy is one of my good friends from high school, Jennifer W. It is so neat A) that we are still such good friends after 20 + years and B) that our kids are all close in age and get to know each other better at our monthly "Liberty Alum" playgroups :)  Landry shares her birthday with our good friend, Angie, whom I have been friends with since the 3rd grade! She couldn't make it to the party so Kellyn and I put together a little gift for her that we hope to give her soon. She is a super busy business woman and politician who travels a lot. So Happy Birthday, Angie.

The Birthday Girl took quite a liking to Rhett.

This sweet and innocent little one year old is putting the moves on my precious little man.

He looks like he is just waiting nicely until it over.

Landry's Sweet Shop.
Cotton Candy, jelly beans, cookies, pink lemonade.                   Cake Time!

The Birthday Girl's Big Brother, Caden.

Kellyn and Caden raced from the fence to the bounce house a million time. Back and forth, back and forth. I love that she kept her tiara headband on while she raced. She would even stop to adjust it and fix her hair at times.
