365 Days Outside - Day 9 - Cold and Rainy

It was a cold and rainy day today. We stayed inside most of the day. The kids stayed in their pajamas all day!
My kids love Moon Sand. We gave them some for Christmas and decided to open it today so as to pass our time indoors.

We also made some crafts.

I tried to wait until it either warmed up or the rain let up, but that wasn't happening any time soon so we bundled up and braved the weather in the name of our New Year's Resolution to be outside for at least 15 minutes everyday. And we did it! They just put their rain boots and coats on over their pajamas. And of course, Kellyn added a tutu as well.

Kellyn looking for worms with her binoculars.

We tried to get Miss Lily to come outside with us and play and go potty, but this was as far as came out of the house all day. She just stretched and yawned then went back inside and watched us through the window. What a diva dog.

Running and playing and jumping in the cold rain.

Ok, on a serious note, soon after this fun time in the rain. I checked the mailbox and got some hurtful news. Nothing major, I just got my feelings hurt for a second, but I'll get over it soon. But in the mean time, please pray for me to not say or do anything that I can't take back. I don't really shy away from confrontation, but I want to be sure I use wise judgement and rational thought when discussing this issue with my friend. I don't want to hurt anyone else's feelings, but rather express Christ's love and grace. However, I will have to fight against my human instincts to allow God to do this. Often times I just need to shut up.  I just didn't want you to think I had a great day when it was kind of a bummer day. On the bright side I got to catch up over the phone with my friend, Courtney, who lives in Houston and is expecting her 3rd baby. I also got to chat with my friend, Amy, who started back to work today after having baby Lauren the day after Thanksgiving.

And here is a question for ya: Does your preacher use an ipad or read directly from the Bible? Yesterday at church I was so distracted and bothered by my pastor reading scripture from his new ipad. I'm used to him using a laptop, but I'm also used to him having his Bible up there with him. There is just something about touching those thin pages in the Bible and hearing that crinkle sound come across the microphone when they are turned and highlighting a passage that spoke to you. I don't know, it just felt like he was trying to be too modern and fit in with the hip, rich Dallas crowd or something. I know that wasn't his heart, but it just felt weird to me and maybe to others in the audience who can't afford an ipad. I mean our church supports missionaries who risk their lives to pass out Bibles...tangible Bible's with paper pages, not ipads. I know rationally that this should not bother me. The Bible is the Bible no matter what form. And our pastor is still spreading the message of Truth and Grace. I need to let this go. I feel like satan is using this distract me.
