My First Jewish Wedding

Max's friend from high school, who was also in our wedding, got married on Sunday night. He and his family are Jewish, but his bride is not, however, she is converting or has converted so it was a Jewish wedding. It was interesting to hear all the chants and prayers and things. Of course there were things I didn't agree with, but held my tongue. The biggest one being what the Rabbi said about happiness. He said something to the effect that the most important thing in a marriage is happiness and he went on and on about we tend to lose sight of making ourselves happy. I wrote a post last year about how this view is actually damaging to a marriage. I believe that happiness is fleeting feeling and not something we are entitled to in a marriage. We aren't always going to be happy in a marriage. I believe that true happiness is found in the gift of grace given by the death and resurrection of my Lord Jesus Christ.

Max's dad wanted a picture of him and Max with beards. Max has had his beard since October. His dad said he had to compete with his son to grow a better beard thus him showing up with a surprise beard at the wedding.

The groom with his high school friends, Max and Cooper, and his beautiful bride. Which we found out they met on match.com.....Jacob

It was fun night. We did the wedding circle dance, we yelled mozel tov, and cheered as the bride balanced up high on a chair carried by the groom and groomsmen!
