Got a Little Story for Ya, Ags...

Not really a story just for Aggies, but that's what the yell leaders say at Mid Night Yell. It's an Aggie thing, but I digress. Here is the crazy story. So as you know we have been church shopping this summer and the last church on our list to visit was Coppell Bible Church just 10 minutes from our house. We visited this church on July 24. Well we go to check in all the kids and when we get to Bo's 2 year old the teacher in there writes down my name and cell number in case they need me during the service. As she is writing it down she stops, looks up at me, and says,
"Did you used to live at 1119 Ryan Rd. in Carrollton?"
Me: "That's weird. What's happening?"
teacher: "I've been wanting to get in touch with you. We bought that house from you and have something that belongs to your family."
Me: "What?! That's crazy."
teacher: "We are getting ready to move and cleaned out the attic and found a World War II life preserver that we assume is your Uncle Garnett's."
Me: crying, "Wow, yes, that must be his. Thank you so much for wanting to get to me. This is so amazing seeing you here."
We exchanged numbers and she texted later that day after church inviting me to their church's summer carnival that night.

I took this picture of Priscilla that day because she looked so cute yet so naughty at the same time.  We try to dress her cute so as to distract from her screaming in the church nursery. Although, they said she did pretty good that day in their nursery.

So here is the actual item Amanda and her husband found in the attic of my Aunt Catherine and Uncle Garnett's house. It turned out to be my Uncle Bernard's, my grandmother's brother. His son, my mom's 1st cousin, began crying after hearing about his father's belongings being found. He wanted to come get right away. What a blessing that they found it and kept it. Max and I never went up in the attic to 2 years we lived in that house. It was so small and we didn't have kids. We didn't have a need to.

So we went to the carnival where they had food trucks and waterslides and steel city popsicles. It was so fun! Priscilla enjoyed the big kids left over grilled cheese and watermelon while they ran off and wouldn't let me take their picture.

My dad went along with us that night to help manage all the kids and because he was watching my cousins, son, Samuel.

So on Tuesday of that week Kelln had a playdate with a friend she met at horse camp and the rest of us were invited to play with Amanda and her church mommy friends at a cool splash pad in Coppell. Turns out that Amanda has 2 boys ages 4 and 2 and one of them is named Beau! After all this fun I just really felt like this was our church home. I needed a playgroup, a mommy group so bad to get me out the house and I needed to make friends desperately. They were all so nice, but we weren't sure just yet.

So here is that last part to the story. While visiting with her under the pavilion at the splash pad, Amanda, says to me, "I wanted to tell you something else about the house." I immediately knew she was going to tell me she felt Uncle Garnett's ghost. I always felt it and didn't want to be alone in that house, but I just thought it was because I knew he was hospice there and died there so it was all in my mind, but when she said that I knew. She proceeded to tell me how she believe Garnett's spirit was in the house. She said it wasn't a bad thing or anything she was scared of, but she said sometimes late at night her iPad would turn on playing 40's swing music. Not something she or her husband would ever listen to. She said it happened a few times before and after she was married. Then she said one night she thought she heard someone say go check on the baby and when she did he was burning up with a 103 degrees fever. He didn't cry and she wouldn't have known  or woken up if not for that. She thinks it was Garnett helping them. He did love kids, but I don't. It could have been her mother's intuition or an angel. But her stories weirded me out. She just said usual things would happen and her mom would tell her it was Garnett. Her mom knew him. They lived 2 streets behind them. Crazy right!
