Our first week of school was actually just 2 days.
We actually started the week with roller skating.
My friend, Christina, invited us to the roller skating rink on the day after public school started back. We quickly found out that we had the entire place to ourselves, but they only had one AC unit running and no DJ or snack bar, but they turned on the playlist in the DJ booth for us we didn't have to skate in silence. My mom kept the little ones for me so I could enjoy skating too!
Since we start on a Thursday we only had school on Thursday and Friday, but man it was a rough and exhausting week with Rhett getting the stomach bug the day before the first day of school.
I have made a new rule this year of no after school snacks in the car. Because they are so starving the second school is out I used to pack a snack bag then hand it to them in the backseat, but they were trashing the back of my car plus now Bo and Priscilla want snacks in the car if they see the big getting some so I called it quits on that. Which has been nice because now I can make fun healthy snacks that cannot go in the car. On the first day of school I surprised them with apple slices with peanut butter, mini chocolate chips, and sprinkles and frozen blueberries drizzled with Magic shell and sprinkles. I felt pretty proud of myself and thought I made up for making them wait the entire 12 minute car ride home until they could eat. Now by the end of the year I may be throwing a bag of Cheetos their way, but for now we are off to a great start.
On Friday, August 27, we celebrated with snow cones along with everyone else at our school. :)
I just thought it was so sweet how Bo didn't even hesitate to share with Priscilla. :)
On Saturday, August 28, we went to dinner at Snuffers in the shops of Highland Village with my parents and brother and grandmother. Then after they left we took the kids to play in the splash pad and listen to a live band. I packed everyone's swimsuits, but Kellyn insisted on not taking hers because splash pads are babyish. She was soaking wet by the end of the night.
Sharing is caring and they shared 1 ice cream cone.
And the money shot. Such sweet sisters dancing. We had so much fun at the splash pad and listening to the live band. At one point we handed the baby to the big sister, ignored our 4 kids, and proceeded to dance just like we did in our College Station days twisting and twirling.
The next day we gave The Village Church a 2nd try and what to the what, what!? I did not get called out of service due to a screaming baby? Perhaps she won't be an atheist after all. :I finally got to hear Matt Chandler preach for the first time and I enjoyed church with my husband!
