Disaster Day!

Well, today, the last day of March, was different. It started off really good because while Kellyn was at preschool I took Rhett to the gym with me and put him in the nursery for the first time since he turned 1. He stayed in the nursery for 45 minutes!! They said he only fussed a little in the beginning and a little towards the end, but overall he did really good. Sooooo this means that I can now add more workouts to my schedule!! Thank you Rhett. After my workout we went to swim lessons, picked up a book from the library then home for lunch. I put Rhett down for his nap, took a shower then left to pick up Kellyn once my dad got there to sit in the house while Rhett slept.

Things took an ugly turn when I mentioned to my dad to take a look at a slow drip we have in our master bathtub. When I returned with Kellyn about 15 minutes later my dad ran in the garage as we pulled saying, "I'm so glad you are finally back. There is a big problem!!" Then grabbed some towls and rushed back in. We followed him to my bathroom at which point he informed us, rather frantically, that the faucet busted and shot water up and all over my bathroom, which indeed it had. There were towels and wash clothes all over the floor soaked with water and we needed more! There was water dripping from the ceiling. Some how he managed to get back together to get it to stop shooting up and just trickle out instead. Dad rushed to the front yard to try to turn off the water to the house, but could not do it after a good 10 minutes of turning every knob then finally breaking one causing a huge gush of water now in the front yard as well at which point I called the City of Carrollton to come and shut off our water. Then I called my mom to see if she could call her plumber to come out. My dad had to get back to work so I called my mom back and asked her to bring him some dry clothes to the clinic. The Water Guy arrived about 35 minutes after I called and the lady I spoke with said she typed it in as an emergency. Thank God it wasn't a real emergency. By this time Rhett woke up from his nap and the kids pasted the time by playing in the water spewing out our front yard.

Once the City of Carrollton Water Guy got there he said the box that my dad had been working in was actually the sprinkler box and that he broke valve completely off. He shut the water off and I was able to get 3 loads of towels dry. Then my Maw-maw should after very soon after he left with a car full of towels. By then I didn't need them, but she stayed and hung out with us until the plumber left. He got there soon after she arrived and said he had to take off the entire pipe in the sprinkler box and cap it at both ends. He will be back Monday to install a new one. Then he fixed the originally leaky faucet in my bathroom.

OK so it gets better...during all this Max called to say he had another horrible day a work and left work early to go golf with a friend. He said he doesn't know if he will have a job after today!

Then when we called to tell my dad everything was fine and to not feel so bad he said that when he got to his Vet Clinic after leaving our house there was snake curled up under the refrigerator and he had to get that out and the girls there were all freaked out. This was no April Fools.

What a day.
