March Madness

Today is the first day of April (the most wonderful month of the year) So here is a recap of our March. This month has been full of new adventures, discoveries and development. The weather has been hit and miss with nice, warm, sunny weather and freezing, cold, windy weather. On the nice days we stay outside as much as possible. Rhett's all time favorite thing right now is to squirt the spray bottle. He loves to squirt water at bugs, dirt, chairs, leaves, toys, everything. On this day he was especially excited because he found a caterpillar moving in the dirt. Kellyn put it in her hand and Rhett squirted it clean. She then put it on some leaves. Yes, she is wearing tights without shoes and yes, they did get extremely dirty.

The next day was Friday and on Fridays we stay in our pj's until about noon when it is time to go to Kellyn's gymnastics class. So we usually do crafts on Fridays. On this day I gave them yellow paint and blue paint and of course they mixed it together and discovered that it made green. I have learned that little kids will always mix all the colors together to make black so now I only give them 2 colors at a time to create the color I really want them to be painting with. Since it is almost St. Patrick's Day I thought we would make 4 leaf clovers, but Kellyn just wanted to paint I love You on pink paper. At least it was in green. I taped out the letters thinking she would paint all over the paper and I would peel off the tape to reveal the message. She didn't do that. She traced the letters and made a lovely picture. I tried taping out a 4 leaf clover for Rhett but it was kind of tricky and didn't turn out all that great. Then I put paint on his hands to make 4 hand prints in the shape of a clover, but he smeared it all around so I tried to circle his hand prints with gold glitter to make clover.

We took our paintings outside to dry and Rhett squirted things with his favorite toy, the water bottle. It was just too funny that he wanted his sunglasses on too. He looks like The Terminator in a diaper.

He does this while Kellyn and I play a game she calls, "Bear and Lamb" where she plays with a stuffed polar bear that 'talks' to the stuffed lamb that I am holding and they invite each other to their 'houses' and eat, and bounce on the trampoline, and sleep over.....

The Final Results

Also, in March, Kellyn finally learned how to make the letter K and the letter N so now she can write her whole name. The diagonal lines were tricky for her.

Kellyn loves playing with Rhett's army men. I used to have them in my classroom and then counseling office. They were a great tool for getting kids to talk and play. Max has enjoyed playing with the army men too, maybe even more than her.

Kellyn has developed a love for worms this month.
She has built her own "worm house" for them.

Kellyn is very into building things this month. She has also built a tent in her room with Daddy and then added to it during rest time one day. She also brought in her umbrella so she could be in the shade while she read books. On another day she built this tower and put a princess crown bracelet on the top. We had to walk around it for days.

And we hired a new dog washer this month as well.

Kellyn has been asking all month to sleep in our bed so we finally let her fall asleep in it one night, but then we moved her. Then in this picture she had asked to take a nap in our bed. I didn't really think she would actually fall asleep, but she did. She rarely naps so this was exciting! Although she was up until 10:00 that night trying to fall asleep.

And if this guy, with his upside down sunglasses, diaper and water bottle, isn't Madness then I don't know what is.

My waitress

On our way to swim lessons one day I look back and this is what I saw.

Rhett loves to eat eggs and has learned how to crack eggs in the bowl. He has gotten pretty good at it. No shell this time!

Terrorizing the neighborhood. ;)
