In the wee hours of Friday morning we were up waiting for a baby to arrive at our door. Her daddy was sick and her mommy had to go to work so we took her in.
Amy dropped her precious baby, Lauren off at our house at 7:15 a.m. before Kellyn was even awake. Rhett asked to hold her immediately after I gave her a bottle. He didn't want to hold her at all the last time we babysat so he kept saying, "This time I hold her. This time I hold her."
When my princess awoke she was beside herself excited to see the new little princess in her house.
She read her book after book after book.
Then it was time to go to Kellyn's dance class. I am driving my mom's Expedition and was able to fit three car seats in the middle row. The kids were so excited to have Lauren sit between them. When we showed up at the dance studio with a baby we were the talk of the place. Kellyn showed all her little girl friends baby Lauren. She was so proud.
Cowboy Rhett in the lobby of the dance studio pointing up at Lauren as I hold her and take his picture. Rhett stayed right by her the entire time I was holding her. He would tell her stories, tickle her, stroke her arm...you name it. He kept her happy and entertained while we waited for Sissy.
Lauren fell asleep so I laid her back in the car seat. Again, Rhett stayed right by her singing and stroking her feet. So sweet.
When we got back we had lunch and Lauren woke up so of course Kellyn wanted to hold her.
Later in the day Lauren would cry if we stayed inside so wrapped her in a fleece, princess blanket and walked her around outside. She was drowsy but fighting it. Then Max comes home early and asks to hold her. She fell asleep pretty quickly and a deep sleep too. So deep that he was able to lay her down in the pac N play without her waking up, something I had yet to accomplish. So now he has been telling this story and taking credit for saving the day and getting the baby to sleep. :)
Thanks, Amy and Jason for loaning us your baby for the day. We had fun and I'll bet she was worn out from all the excitement.
hmmmmm time for another sibling? ;)
