The Last Week of May

This was also the last week we had Baby Lauren!! To those of you who had or have a baby with colic and/or reflux or just cries all the time my heart goes out to you. Although, this baby just skipped crying and went straight to screaming. She was obviously in pain and suffering. It was like Chinese torture for both of us. I'm so sorry I haven't had more empathy for you, but now I do. It was the toughest when my own kids needed me and tried my best to help them while holding someone else's screaming baby. But they were troopers and still just loved her to pieces and couldn't wait for her to come over every morning. They were great helpers and entertainers. She started off nice in the mornings. She just didn't nap very long, but then would get worse and worse as the day went on. And if we had to get in the car she would scream the whole way there and the whole way back. Kellyn said she felt sorry for her.

Monday was Memorial Day so baby Lauren's parents had the day off and we didn't get Lauren until Tuesday. She screamed most of the day. I took the kids outside to make our own Silly Putty (same as Slime just a little less water) during the short 20 minute nap Lauren took. I brought her outside with us and she was much calmer, but then she started up again.

The afternoon was even worse and she screamed for an hour straight. The kids had swim lessons so we left our house at 4:00. When Amy texted asking how our day went I replied, "It has been a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day!" By the time she picked her up I was having a melt down. I told her to take her baby to the doctor that night. She did and they got a prescription for an extra sensitive formula. She was better the very next day.

It rained hard on Wednesday. The kids loved watching it rain! At one point it even got extremely sunny and began to hail! It was the weirdest looking thing.

Rainy Day Bowling.

We busted out some of our Discovery Toys games to pass the rainy morning along with Butterfly Dominoes.

Our butterflies hatched just was we were all getting up in Thursday morning!
Rhett carried around that little cup of caterpillars everywhere. He checked on them everyday. I was so happy for him that they hatched the day before his birthday.

Also on Thursday we practiced hair and make-up for Kellyn's up coming picture day and dance recital. Lauren screamed all morning but settled down in the afternoon. This is backwards for what she typically does.

So crazy my baby is looking so grown up.

Thursday night was also the last night of swim lessons for the kids. Kellyn's teacher pulled me aside to tell me what a talented swimmer she is. She told me she needs to be on the swim the team. She believes this is her sport! I think we may look into swim team next year after she finished Kindergarten. She loves, loves swimming and wants to do it all year long, but she may still be a little young such a time commitment as swim team.
