So I still feel weird that we "celebrate" Halloween. I don't like think of it like that, but rather dressing up and being silly for Fall.
Saturday
festival in Denton to support one of Max's fellow therapists who also has her own non-profit called Seniors in Motion.
Batman driving us to Denton
Our Super Hero Family!
Wonder Woman, Batman, Spider Girl and Spiderman!
Kellyn always has to get her face painted.
We went from Denton in the morning to Flower Mound at lunch time for the party at my parent's Veterinary Clinic. I'm not going to lie, this is very strange to me that we do this considering we only went Trick or Treating once and dressed up twice my entire childhood. The private school I went to always sent home a letter explaining the true meaning of Halloween encouraging us not to partake in such evil. Then when I went to college I loved dressing up! I guess now that I'm a mom I just see it as another excuse to dress up and play pretend and take cute pictures of your kids while they will still let you.
My mom and dad and their friends all hid behind exam room doors to hand out candy.
Sunday
Trunk or Treat with the Carrollton Early Childhood PTA.
We've been doing this for 4 years now.
This was our first year to do it in our minivan.
Spiderman was very popular this year.
Wednesday night
Halloween night
So I had actually already told the kids that we had already done enough trick or treating and that we would just be handing out candy. Last year we went to Castle Hills and the streets were so crowded and the yards were a little too scary. And I still feel torn on whether or not it's ok. Well, one of my college roommates, Mary, texted and asked if they could go trick or treating with us in our neighborhood. I hesitated, but then agreed because I really wanted to have them over since they just moved to town from Houston and don't know many people here and they didn't want to go in their apartment complex. My kids were thrilled! They didn't act like it bothered them that we weren't going out, but when I told them I changed my mind and we were they jumped for joy. That made me feel like it was more just a right of passage in childhood to get to go to strangers' houses in the dark and ask for candy and not so much about worshipping the devil.

This is Kellyn's friend and our neighbor that also goes to Lakeland!
Mary and I and our kids. So fun seeing them altogether and having them in town now. Her oldest daughter kept running back yelling, "I said Thank You! I said Thank You!" She was so proud of herself for having good manners. Too cute.
Max hung back and handed out candy while I went with the kids. Rhett wanted to hold my hand the entire time and then he tired out pretty quickly and wanted me to carry him. So sweet. This will be the last year he will be little enough for me to carry him seeing as how next year he will be 4. :(
