The Start of Our First Spring Break

This is our first year to truly acknowledge the week of spring break. When you have very young kids in the early childhood years spring break doesn't effect you. It's just another week with your kids. But once they start elementary school and you don't have them home with you all day everyday you become a slave to the school holiday schedule in planning your family outings. Can you tell I secretly want to homeschool. I love half-day Kindergarten! Why can't they offer half-day 1st grade and half-day 2nd grade and so on? Or maybe all day, but only 4 days a week would be good. It would be nice to have Fridays off school. Anyway, I digress.

The last day of school before Spring Break started with a trip to the pediatrician instead of a trip to Austin. I kept Kellyn home from school since she was up cough most of the night and Rhett woke up with a fever. We came home with antibiotics and antihistamines. :(  The kids had sinus and ear infections due to drainage from allergies. We typically get this April - August, but this is early March! Not good!

All of our bags were packed, but instead of traveling to see friends they spent the day in my bed watching Magic School videos.

On a side note, Max caught a Gecko!

They felt better on Saturday so we went to the Shriner's Circus in Frisco.

Rhett and Max riding a camel!

Waiting for the circus to begin!

She always wants to get her face painted.

What a fun back up plan!
But it did wear the kids out and we came home and rested the rest of the day.

On Sunday I wanted to go to the Dallas Aquarium, but Max didn't want to deal with the Spring Break crowds so I talked him into taking us to the Rainforest Cafe in Grapevine Mills mall for lunch after church. :)

And thats how we spent our weekend. Then the weekdays got busy!
