Tadpoles

The day before we released our butterflies the tadpoles arrived in the mail!

They are so tiny you have to use a magnifying glass to see them well.

You want a to make a 3 1/2 year old boy happy...give him tadpoles.

2 weeks later. They are getting bigger.

I used to do this when I taught 2nd grade. At the end of the year when they tadpoles had turned into frogs I would hold a drawing to see which students got to keep a frog and take it home on the last day of school.  I have been waiting for my kids to get old enough to do this!

3 weeks. No need for a magnifying glass anymore.

Here are a few of the books we have as we study the metamorphosis of caterpillars and tadpoles. I forgot to take a pic of the ones we rented from the library. The kids' favorite one was, "A Tadpole Promise." They thought it was funny that the frog ate his true love, the butterfly, not knowing it was her. :)

I'll keep you posted on how they are growing.
