This was completely and totally a last minute decision. I love summer for this reason! My friend, Cecilie, and I were just talking on Sunday when she said they were going to go to Burger's Lake with her friend's family, but her friend's daughter got sick so they can't go now. Cecilie had already told her 5 kids they were going so she asked if we would like to join them. I didn't think Max could rearrange his schedule to go on Monday, but he did! (the 1 perk of self-employment) We got there at 10:00 and didn't leave until 3:30. It wasn't crowded and the weather was perfect and there was lots and lots of shade. Burger's Lake is in Ft. Worth and took us 1 hour to get there from Carrollton. The lake is spring fed and the spring water is freezing cold, but lake itself is not. Rhett kept swimming under the spot that shot ice cold spring water into the lake. His head would be frozen. :)
It was so much fun! I highly recommend it! It's not really a lake. It's more like an old fashioned swimming hole. The kids had fun building sandcastles, jumping off the diving board, diving for lost treasures (sunglasses, earrings, shells...) going down slides, swinging on the trapeze, floating on the tube, and playing in the ice cold splash pad (spring water).
Bo did a little swimming then took a nap on his Soft Spot by Wozzy while Anya (Ceclie and Joey's 21 year old daughter) watched him and I swam.
Thanks for such a fun day, Anders Family! We will definitely go back.
It was way better than a water park. It was so much easier and less stressful.
