Discrimination Against Boys

February 26 - Look at my cute little guy. He has been 2 for less than a month now and already learned to climb up any and everything then hang on it like a monkey. It seems to make the other mommy's at the park a little nervous how high he climbs and hangs. :) He is just a sweet innocent little 2 year old boy. Maybe a little more fearless than my heart can handle, but thats ok. He loves life and plays hard. I had a good conversation with a friend this week about how boys are discriminated against in our society. Basically if a boy is not behaving like a girl then he is considered "wild," "disruptive," "hard to handle," and "you must have your hands full with him." No longer can boys just act like fidgety, active, curious little boys. They are now looked at as non-girls and must be tamed. I feel called to help my sweet boys navigate through this anti-boy, girl power world. You think I'm wrong that boys experience prejudice? Just flip on any sitcom and see how the boys wreak havoc in the home and the dad is portrayed as an imbecile. Let me tell you that girls can be just as messy and destructive as any boy. Did anyone stop to think that boys brains are wired differently than girls and that's a good thing. God made my boys in His image and I will continue to encourage them to pick up a stick and pretend it is a gun and run and play with reckless abandon while my girls talk quietly with their friends (i.e. gossip, which is just as bad.) #boymom #boyadvocate
