I had been wanting to take the kids to The Dallas Children's Museum for a long while, but could never find anyone to go with us. Finally we had a completely open Saturday! This was my big chance and Max said yes. He also suggested we ride the Dart Rail up to Fair Park. We parked and caught the Dart Rail at the Downtown Carrollton Station so that when we got back we could go get ice cream.
My boys enjoyed looking out the window together while Kellyn chose to sit in the stroller to look out the window. Silly girl. She was mesmerized as entered the city of Dallas. She loved all the tall buildings.
There was a dinosaur exhibit going on at the Museum of Nature and Science. Turns out my kids really enjoy watching Dinosaur Train, but are terrified of life size animatronic dinosaurs moving and roaring at them. We had to walk past 2 of them to get to the Children's Museum and it was not pretty. However, Kellyn did like the "dead" ones and was willing to get her picture by one of the fossils. Then we went straight to the dino dig which she loved, but Rhett was still a little shaken up and hesitant to leave us. He finally did sit in the sand and dig a little before we went downstairs to the Children's Museum.
Once in the Children's Museum the Kellyn enjoyed milking a cow while Rhett had fun collecting eggs.
Rhett really loosened up once we went into the River room. This kids loves to play with water! He would have stayed in there all day if we had let him.
Rhett's 2nd favorite thing was driving the firetruck while Kellyn had fun dressing like a firewoman. He kept going back to it.
Rhett also enjoyed playing with light switches and tools.
They had so much fun looking at snakes, cockroaches, ants, tarantulas, fish and turtles.
We ate lunch at the Old Mill Inn on the fair grounds. Kellyn wanted to cross her hands like Betty Boop and play the piano with Elvis at the Inn.
We got a family picture in front of the gates of the fair grounds by the rail station.
Here comes our train! And here is a metal giant holding a bird we saw on our way home.
It was the weekend of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dallas so there were lots of drunk people dressed in green on the train. Kellyn said one of them wearing a green tutu looked like Tinker Bell (too bad she was standing in her seat and holding a beer).

We saw Jensen on the train!! He is in Kellyn's preschool class. We ended the day with at the candy shop in Downtown Carrollton. |
Was it far/hard to walk from the dart station to the museum? I am visiting from out of town next weekend and would rather not deal with Dallas traffic. But I will be on my own with a 3 yr old and 3 mo old, so don't want to walk too far in this heat or have to cross too many busy streets. Thanks!
