After stopping in Grapeland on Friday night for dinner we continued our journey on to The Woodlands to visit one of my college rommies, Kara, and her family. We arrived at 8:30 p.m. and threw the kids in the bath and got them ready for bed quickly. They were so excited to see Emma and William that of course they did not fall asleep quickly despite being very tired. In fact after we had been downstairs visiting for about 30 minutes while we thought the kid were asleep all of a sudden I heard something above me. I rushed up to see who it was and what they were doing. I found William at the sink in the bathroom, but he quickly rushed back to his room as if he was never there. I saw Kellyn and Rhett on the floor of the bathroom. Kellyn was trying to pull Rhett's pajama shorts back up. I said, "What are you doing? Why are you out of your beds?" She said, "Rhett said he needed to go potty." "What? Rhett wears a diaper and is not potty training." "Well, he said he wanted to start potty training."
He doesn't even know what potty training means and can't even say those words. I think Kellyn wanted needed to go potty, didn't want to go by herself, so she went to Rhett's bed and asked him if he needed to go potty knowing that he says yes to everything she tells him to do and not wanting to be left alone in a strange room all by himself he went along with it.
The next day we had a leisurely breakfast of blueberry pancakes, yum. Then we split up boys and girls and went shopping. The girls went to Lake Shore Learning where Emma and Kellyn made a dinosaur craft and Lifeway where they did another craft. Then we met the boys at a Mexican food place for lunch. Then went back home and after rest time they enjoyed the Popsicles we brought from home.
That evening we went to the is river walk area and fed the ducks, fish and turtles then played at the splash pad and ordered pizza. They got in bed late again, but this time Kellyn slept on the crib mattress on the floor while Rhett slept in the twin bed and no one got up. But Rhett still coughed and was stuffy which he had been since Thursday night, but we still decided to not cancel our trip. And I'm so glad we didn't. We all just pressed through and slept when we got home. One or both of my kids always gets a cough and stuffy nose when go on vacation, uhgg. It is almost like they have an allergy to traveling.
We left early Sunday morning and stopped to eat Shipley's donuts on the way out of town.
We also stopped at the Sam Houston statue. Something we had driven past many, many, many times, but never stopped to see before. Kellyn really wanted to stop and see it so we did for the 1st time ever and it was so fun.
We also stopped at The Collin Street Bakery to go potty, stretch our legs and get cookies. Kellyn got a pink Cherry Ice Box cookie.
I hate that I forgot to get a picture of Kara and I or our families together, but she is 5 months pregnant and not feeling well so she had to rest most of the day on Saturday so I just forgot about it. :(
