Oh my goodness the weather this week has been so nice!! Packing up the house like a mad woman this week Rhett and I decided to rest for few minutes by having a lovely picnic outside together while Kellyn was at preschool.
It was so nice and peaceful just the 2 of us. It made me so grateful that I listened to God a few years ago when he told me to quite my dream job as a school counselor to become a full time stay at home mom. Instead of having lunch in the teachers work room or monitoring a cafeteria full of screaming kids I was was enjoying some one on one time with my little man in sunshine. What a bless and a gift.
No let me tell you a few things that Rhett said and did this week.
First of all, obviously, he like to dress up and wear his cowboy hat which is super cute. He even goes out in public like this. I just love it! 2 1/2 has got to be the funnest age.
Ok, but seriously, on Thursday we hired some workers to fix up our house. They laid some tile, repainted, re grouted the shower, trimmed the hedges and trees and more. They were here from 8 in the morning until 8 at night. So Rhett and I took Kellyn to preschool then stopped by Home Depot for some paint then back to the house to pack a few more box and load up the car to take it to my parent's storage shed at their veterinary clinic in Flower Mound. Well, in the midst of the chaos, busyness and shuffling around of that very long day my sweet, baby boy hugged my leg out there in the driveway as I was frantically loading the car and said, "Mommy, I tell you something." What, baby? "You sweet, special, and grateful. I yuv you, Mommy." Needless to say, I melted. This was how God reminded me to slow down and that even though our lives seem to moving at a super fast pace it is all going to be ok and to not overlook those precious, fleeting moments your children, but rather soak them all in even if it means it might through you off schedule and you don't get everything checked off your list. Your sweet babies are far more important. I just never ever want to forget Rhett saying that in that sweet little 2 1/2 year innocent voice of his. His name means Advice, Counsel, Speaker. I believe he very intuitive like his momma and truly lived up to his name on that day.
Ok, on to the next cute thing Rhett did.
I know I should not be posting this picture, but it is so funny and matches the story. I told you he wears his cowboy hat a lot.
So on Friday morning at 6:30 a.m. I am awakened by the loud clank of the toilet seat cover being lifted up and hitting the back of the tank. I sat up to see the glow of the hallway bathroom light. Rhett was in there, completely naked and sitting on his potty seat just like in this picture. He said he needed to go poo-poo. Evidently he brought his stool that we keep by his bed so he can get up in it into the bathroom, stood up on it to flip on the light and set it in front of the potty. The he unzipped and took off his footed jamies, took off his pull up and put it in the trash then got his potty seat and put on top of the big potty all by himself!! He never came and got me for anything. By the time I got in there he was sitting on the potty and asked me to read him a book. I was so impressed and in shock. He never did anything like this at this age. She wasn't even fully potty trained until she was 3 years and 3 months old. She was still coming our room and waking us up in the middle of the night to tell us she had to go potty at age 4. Not that she needed any help she just wanted us to know. Rhett didn't even tell anybody which shouldn't surprise me because thats how we started potty training in the first place. I just had to write all this down so I wouldn't forget how amazing he is. This is not normal 2 1/2 year old behavior. He is a freak of nature :) But I love him to pieces for it.
