St. Patrick's Day was like a normal Saturday for us with the exception of green cupcakes and toenails. I went to the gym, Max took the kids to the park, Kellyn had a birthday party to go to and Max and I went on a date (which is was a wonderful surprise). We went to see Will Ferrel's new movie which was all in subtitles. But I couldn't help but have my friends on my mind and in my prayers on this day. My friend and former college roommate, Courtney and her husband, Tommy, buried Tommy's mother, Courtney's mother-in-law, on Saturday, March 17. She passed unexpectedly and Courtney is pregnant with their 3rd baby, due April 21. So please pray for her and their family as they deal with the stress and grief and life changes and birth all at once, grieving so deeply in March then celebrating with such joy in April. This emotional roller coaster would be hard on anyone. Their youngest son just turned 2 in February and their oldest child is about to turn 5 in April. I'm sure that losing their grandmother is so confusing and hard to process for these 2 young boys. Their 5 year old will most likely grieve later with some unexpected emotional outburst and we all know how 2 year olds can be, throw in a loss and add a new baby and you've got a cocktail for emotional chaos, something only prayer can handle. Please, please keep them all in your prayers if you think about it. I asked God to give Courtney and Tommy the strength and energy they need to be there for all 3 of their child come April. I ask Him to give them wisdom, guidance, discernment and patiences as they all struggle to find a new normal and deal with each other's grief and stress. They live in Houston and I just feel so helpless and far away from them. All I know to do is pray and listen.
