We went shopping for bunk beds the weekend before Christmas.
I had been thinking about doing it for awhile, but never could pull the trigger on it until I talked it over with my friend, Sarah, who pushed me over the edge and convinced me have them share a room so we could tend to the baby in his own room.
We found this one with stairs and drawers and loved it.
The weekend after Christmas we put the bunk beds up in Kellyn's old room.
That morning we opened gifts from my aunt Pat and she gave Rhett a complete tool set. He was ready to build some bunk beds.
My brother came over to help Max assemble the beds.
First night in their bunk beds!
After trying only a few minutes to go to sleep Rhett said he had a scary dream so Kellyn said she would read him a book in her bed for a little while. So sweet.
My friend, Sarah, who talked me into the bunk beds, came in town from Austin with her boys and they all played up their for a while.
So glad we did it. We have a baby nursery and the kids love their new room. Kellyn goes to sleep sooner now and Rhett doesn't come get me in the middle of the night for a scary dream, win win. I should have done it sooner.
I am very touched to see Kellyn comforting Max after his nightmare. What a loving big sister. That is just so heartwarming. Anyway, I think getting that bed is a good decision, not only for the additional storage space that you now have, but also for finding a way for your kids to form a closer bond as siblings. That, I think, is the most fulfilling thing to see for a mother. All the best!
