I am the crazy person that hosted a baby shower at my house at 37 weeks pregnant, but it was so worth it and so fun all be it exhausting and painful.
Gina did not want a cake at her baby shower. She requested milk and cookies so I jumped on pinterest for some ideas.
With this being her 3rd baby and her last one being a boy who is not yet even 2 years olds, but will turn two, 3 days after she is induced, she still has all the baby gear she needs. All she said she really needed was diapers so we showered her with just that.
I borrowed 2 jars from my mom and the one in the middle from Amy, the co-hostess. We served 2% milk, chocolate milk, and almond milk along with chocolate chip cookies, M&M cookies, oatmeal cookies and some Girl Scout cookies.
I also made a super cute diaper cake which I totally forgot to take a picture of. :( It was wrapped with brown and blue polka dot ribbon and had a bottle on the top filled with M&M's.
We played "Guess how many M&M's are in the bottle," "Name that Nursery Rhyme," and "Don't say Baby."
Gina and I are both due in February. Last time we were pregnant together we were both due in June and our babies are 11 days apart. Even though Gina is due 2 weeks after me she is being induced 3 weeks early (when I will be 39 weeks pregnant and she will be 37) which means we could likely be in the hospital at the same time and our babies will be even closer than last time! We do not plan this I promise. But it is fun because we used to teach 2nd grade together and have remained friends.
The hostesses with Gina.
Teacher friends! We used to all teach at Degan Elementary together back in the day. Katy came in from Waco for Gina's shower.
After the shower we all wanted to keep visiting and go out to dinner while Katy was in town, but when we broke it to the dads they were less than eager to continue watching the kids after a long day.
During the shower Max took both our kids to 2 birthday parties all by himself! And Jason said Lauren screamed and cried the whole time Amy was gone. They needed to get out so we let them come along and sit at a separate table and enjoy some guy time and a beer rita. :)
These are some fabulous gifts!
